Chennai: The State police have arrested 5,03,689 persons for not following the rules of Section 144 imposed across Tamilnadu.
A press release said that until this morning the police in various districts have recorded as many 4,75,081 violations of social distancing.
The release from the DGP’s office said, FIRs have been registered against those who violate the rules of lockdown.
The police seized as many as 4,10,110 vehicles from those who stepped out of their houses for non-essential purposes. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner.
A total amount of Rs 6,70,63,404 has been collected from violators as fine.
