James Cameron has returned to New Zealand to restart the production of his ambitious project, Avatar 2. The director is accompanied by producer Jon Landau.
Jon Landeau shared two pictures after landing in New Zealand with James Cameron. They were seen sporting coronavirus protective masks and face shields. Jon wrote, ‘Made it to New Zealand. Our 14-day government supervised self-isolation now begins. #avatarsequels #jamescameron #newzealand #airnewzealand #selfisolation (sic).’
The New Zealand government had endorsed Covid-19 safety procedures for film and television production in the country. After NZ government’s decision to allow shooting in the country, the cast and crew of Avatar 2 and Amazon’s The Lord Of The Rings series can resume shooting. The production of the film and series was halted because of the coronavirus outbreak which resulted in an immediate near-global lockdown.
Avatar 2 is scheduled to release on 17 December, 2021.
