Chennai: Kanyakumari police have arrested four men and two minor boys for sexually exploiting an eight-year-old girl in Thengapattanam.
The four men were aged between 50-75 and the boys were aged 15. The girl’s father was out of job and had to take care of his mentally unstable wife and lived in dire condition.
In this impoverished situation, the girl stepped out of the house and asked the men for money. They gave her Rs 50 and asked her to expose her body. Then they molested her, it is said.
Later, when the father asked her how she got the money she narrated him the incident.
He took up the matter with elders in the locality who got the girl’s statement in a video and took it up with top police officials.
The men were identified as Mohammed Noogu (75), Sahaya Dasan (52), Zaheer Hussain (53) and Abdul Jaffar (66).
The accused were booked under POCSO act while the minors were sent to a correction home in Thirunelveli. The men were lodged at sub-jail in Nagercoil.
They were tested for the novel Coronavirus. The girl was sent for counselling to help her get over the traumatic event.
Police also issued a warning against circulating the video of the minor girl’s statement.
