After playing prominent roles in many films, EV Ganesh Babu turned filmmaker with Yamuna. The movie was critically-acclaimed. He is currently helming Kattil in which he plays the lead role(s).
This Corona lockdown, Ganesh Babu has directed a host of advertisements for Tamilnadu government to spread awareness in wats and means to fight corona including maintaining social distance and follow social hygiene.
Much recently, he shot one featuring Suhasini Maniratnam. Says Ganesh Babu, ‘Be it a film or short advertisement, her commitment to excel amazed me. She is a thorough profession to work with’.
I thank Tamilnadu government for the opportunity given to me direct awareness advertisements featuring Tamil film artistes. I am indebted to them, he adds.
‘Thanks to effective co-ordination led by Chezhiyan Kumarasamy, everything has come good so far’, adds Ganesh Babu.
Asked about his forthcoming film Kattil, he says, ‘Kattil is a story of a family that is forced to move from a spacious, traditional house to a small flat. The problem becomes bigger when they are unable to take their ancestral cot along with them to their new house, due to limited space. One might think this is a trivial issue, but when a host of memories of the people you love is associated with an object, it becomes a part of our life. I would say the cot is the hero of this film.’
Kattil has story and screenplay by B Lenin and Srushti Dange is the heroine.
