Chennai: A case has been filed in a Bihar court against Chinese President Xi Jinping and World Health Organisation Director General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, blaming them for the novel coronavirus pandemic. The court has fixed 16 June for hearing the case.

In his petition in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate in West Champaran district, advocate Murad Ali alleged that Xi is responsible for the spread the virus from Wuhan City in China to the entire world in December 2019. He also charged the WHO chief with conspiring with the Chinese leader and concealing the spread.

He has named Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump as witnesses.
The petitioner has cited social media, print media and electronic media as the source of the allegations and demanded actions under Sections 269, 270, 271, 302, 307, 500, 504 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code.
