Chennai: In yet another move to curb the spread of Covid-19, the Tamilnadu government has launched mobile hospitals and testing units in Chennai.
These facilities, which are equipped with a doctor, nurse and a pharmacist, will visit people of Covid-19 hit areas at their doorsteps and conduct testing.
Also, necessary medical advice and awareness will be created with these mobile units, sources said.
The Tamilnadu government today appointed 2,000 nurses to take care of Covid-19 patients in Chennai and its neighbouring districts of Thiruvallur, Chengalpet and Kancheepuram.
Speaking to the media here, Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar said these nurses are being appointed on temporary basis for six months. It is to be noted that the above regions are worst hit by Covid-19 in the State.
“There won’t be any shortage of healthcare staff,” the Minister said and added that the Tamilnadu government is doing more tests than Maharashtra, which is the worst affected State in the country.
