Chennai: A week into the new lockdown, the Covid-19 numbers in the city refused to bend.
As many as 668 persons have died due to the novel coronavirus disease since March.Ā Currently, there are 18,673 patients undergoing treatment in various hospitals and 26,472 patients have recovered from the viral infection after treatment.
A press release from the Greater Chennai Corporation says that Chennai has recorded 45,814 cases of Covid-19, with Royapuram being the most badly hit locality with 6,837 cases.
A total of 2,552 patients are hospitalised and 4,171 have recovered from it. Nearly, 114 have died of Covid-19 in the locality of Royapuram.
Tondiarpet, a hotspot, has high numbers of coronavirus cases with 5,531 persons contracting the virus.
As many as 87 persons have lost their lives in Tondiarpet and 1,891 are being treated for the viral infection and a total of 3,553 have recovered.
Teynampet has as many as 5,316 persons testing positive and it has the second highest death toll with 97 lives being lost of the pandemic.
As per records, 2031 are hospitalised and 3188 have recovered here. Kodambakkam, another red zone area, has 4,908 cases and the neighbourhood of Anna Nagar has 4,922 Covid-19 cases.
The figures at Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar stand at 3,896. Adyar has 2,777 cases of Covid-19.
There are a total of 1,957 Covid positive persons in Valsaravakkam, 1,741 cases in Ambattur and 1,755 in Thiruvotriyur.
There are 1,383 patients in Madharavam, 1,124 in Alandur and 916 in Perungudi and 894 Covid-19 in Shollinganallur. Manali has 718 Covid-19 patients currently.
