Chennai: Greater Chennai Police Commissioner A K Viswanathan today said police protection has been given back to the house of DMK MP Kanimozhi.
He said this hours after reports claimed that security cover to the DMK leader’s house was withdrawn.
According to sources, since more personnel were needed for Covid-19 rated work and to implement lockdown measures, the policemen providing security cover to her house had been taken back.
Kanimozhi, who is the MP of Tuticorin, on Wednesday dubbed the custodial death of a man and his son in the district as ‘violence’ committed by the police and wanted action against two Sub-Inspectors for their alleged roles in the incident.
In a series of tweets, she said their mere transfer to the Armed Reserve was not a punishment and added she had taken up with the District Collector the need to ensure stringent action against them. She also demanded that the State government provide compensation to the family.
