Chennai: After Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami said on Friday that a decison on whether to extend the lockdown or not would be taken early next week after consulting with health experts, a buzz is doing the rounds that there would be further extension of lockdown.
It is said that the medical experts team of the Tamilnadu government has decided to recommend to the Chief Minister to extend the lockdown, in a bid to prevent the spread of Covid-19.
Palaniswami on Friday said the decision on extending the lockdown will be taken based on discussions with public health experts during a meeting scheduled in Chennai on Monday, and it would be in line with the Centre’s decision.
“We have a meeting with health experts on 29 June in Chennai. After listening to their suggestions and getting guidelines from the central government, we will decide on that,” he told reporters in Tiruchy where he conducted a series of review meetings at the collectorate regarding Covid preventive measures, industrial developments and also the PWD ongoing projects.
