Chennai: Tamilnadu government today instructed that private schools should not force parents to pay fees now.
In a submission filed by the government at the Madras High Court, it was said there is no objection if parents come forward to pay the fees.
“This money can be used to pay salary to the teachers and other staffs,” the government said.
After hearing the explanation, the ourt said that the government should also pay heed to the requests made by the private schools.
It may be noted that on 23 June, Madras High Court asked the Tamilnadu government to respond on how they could expect private schools and colleges to pay salaries to their staff if they are prohibited from collecting even minimum fees.
“When teachers are pressurised to conduct online classes, shouldn’t they be paid,” the court said while admitting the plea moved by the Federation of Association of Private Schools in Tamilnadu and All India Private Educational Institutions Association and Consortium of Self Financing Professions Arts and Science Colleges in Tamilnadu.
