Chennai: Tamilnadu School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan today said it will take long time to reopen schools in the State, in view of the current Covid-19 situation.
He also said that there are a some issues in the publication of class 12 board exam results. ‘Plus Two results will be released after consulting with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami,’ he said.
With high chances for the academic year to be curtailed due to the coronavirus pandemic, the State government is thinking about various possibilities of reducing the burden on the students and teachers.
According to sources, the education department is planning to merge subjects that have two parts in tenth standard.
Sources said that from the upcoming academic year Social Studies book for the tenth standard has been merged into one.
It is said that similar measures will be taken for 11 and 12th standard subjects as well.
Sengottaiyan recently said there are no possibilities of reopening schools in the State as of now, due to the Covid-19 situation.
Speaking to the media, he said, ‘a decision on online classes will be taken and announced in the next two days, after consultation with Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami’.
