Teynampet leads city’s pandemic deaths

Chennai: The spread of coronavirus in Chennai has slowed down over the weekend, which is a positive sign. The Covid-19 numbers have not shown any dramatic rise in the past few days.

Currently, the active cases are 24,890 (36 per cent) and recovered cases 42,309 (62 per cent).

The death toll stands at 1054, that is 1.54 percent.

The neighbourhood of Teynampet has the highest death toll with 158 persons losing their lives, followed by 154 deaths in Royapuram and Tondiarpet with 153 deaths.

Shollinganallur has least causalities with eight.

Since March, Royapuram has been leading with high Covid-19 numbers, now it is showing the highest recovery rate with 6,340 patients overcoming the Pandemic.

Kodambakkam has reported 2,837 active cases.

Other areas such as Royapuram has 2,426 persons with the viral infection, Anna Nagar has 2,349 cases. There are 2,317 cases in Teynampet and 2,275 active cases in Tondiarpet.

Manali has the least number of cases with 531 positive patients under treatment.
