Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today launched 50 ‘quick response vehicles’, which will be used by the Fire and Rescue Services department for Covid-19 prevention works.
According to an official release here, the vehicles will be used in Chennai, Thiruvallur, Kancheepuram and Chengalpet districts to spray disinfectants in a bid to check the spread of the pandemic.
Already, personnel of the Tamilnadu Fire and Rescue Services department have sprayed disinfectants in around 3 lakh places across he State. Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Chief Secretary K Shanmugam and top officials were present when the Chief Minister launched the vehicles at the Secretariat in Chennai today.
He also laid foundation stone for a government medical college in Ariyalur. Only a couple of days, he laid the foundation stone for Kallakurichi Government Medical College and Hospital via video conferencing from the Secretariat here.
The State and Central governments share a financial component of Rs 382 crore this fiscal.
