Chennai: As Chennai is witnessing steady decrease in its daily count of Covid-19 infections, the doubling time of coronavirus cases in the metropolis has improved.
According to the Greater Chennai Corporation, the doubling time has improved to 25.42 days as of Tuesday from 18 days on 28 June.
On Thursday evening, Tamilnadu reported a sudden spike in the number of new Covid-19 cases. The State, which was witnessing over 3000 cases for the past few days, reported 4,231 new Covid-19 cases, including 1,216 from Chennai.
The spike was largely due to the growing numbers in various districts, according to the state health department. Districts which reported spikes include Tiruvallur, Virudhunagar, Madurai, Kallakurichi, Tuticorin, Chengalpet among others.
The department’s release said 41,038 persons were tested on Thursday, which is the highest ever.
