Chennai: The 36th president of Rotary Club of Madras East was installed recently. The installation of Murugavel Selvan as the 36th president of Rotary Club of Madras East was unique since the event was accomplished digitally for the first time.
Over 200 Rotarians from the club, district officers, and senior rotarians across India joined in a show of strength and unity as the president for the last Rotary Year T R Gopalakrishnan passed the baton to Murugavel Selvan seamlessly in the rich RCME tradition, said a press release.
“Murugavel Selvan decorated S Ramakrishnan as the secretary of the club and gave an inspirational address.The board of directors were introduced through an attractive video presentation,” it added.
The chief guest of the evening was the district governor elect Muthupalaniappan who highlighted the Rotary District 3232’s project ‘Orange’ initiative of creating an impact across a population of five million by prevention of avoidable blindness.
Muthupalaniappan also said so far Rs 12 crore ($1.65 million) have been committed to develop 104 vision centres across Chennai district.
