Chennai: There seems to be light at the end of the tunnel and the number of active cases in the city has dipped to 19 per cent and is showing a recovery rate of 81 per cent.
According to data from Greater Chennai Corporation, currently the active cases stand at 15,127 (19 per cent) and the recovered cases are 70,651 (81 per cent).
For the first time, there are no areas with 2,000 cases which was the situation until a few days ago. The death toll stands at 1,456 that is 1.67 per cent. Cases are climbing down in all the neighbourhoods.
Kodambakkam has 1,977 active cases and Anna Nagar, another containment zone has 1,629 patients testing positive.
Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar has 1,114 and Royapuram, which had the highest positive patients now has 1,002 cases. Another hotspot, Tondirapet currently has 808 cases.
Royapuram, which has 70 per cent of its population affected, is showing an impressive recovery rate with 9,116 persons overcoming the viral infection.
Even the casualties related to Covid-19 have reduced. Teynampet has the highest death toll in the city with 213, followed by Tondiarpet with 193 deaths.
