Chennai: There were rumours doing rounds that cinema halls across Tamilnadu will be reopened from August.
However, Tamilnadu Minister for Information and Publicity Kadambur Raju has clearly said that theatres cannot be opened anytime soon considering the corona situation across the State.
The theatres were shut and all shootings were cancelled following Corona outbreak since March and lockdown was subsequently introduced.
Representations were given by film bodies to allow resuming shootings and consider order opening of theatres.
Theatre-owners say that several films are waiting to release and said they would follow whatever safety norms the government say. Several thousand workers are affected, they add.
Remember in places like Sri Lanka and parts of America and China, theatres have been opened. Strict rules and social distancing are followed, they add.
