Chennai: The city has witnessed a slight increase in number of Covid-19 cases and deaths. Now, Kodambakkam is back to having more than 2,000 active cases.
For a few days it was less than the 2,000 mark.
According to data from Greater Chennai Corporation, currently the active cases stand at 13, 569 (15 per cent) and the recovery rate is 83 per cent and 75,384 persons have recovered.
The death rate is 2.14 per cent and 1,947 lives have been lost to the pandemic
A hot spot, Kodambakkam has 2,108 active cases and Anna Nagar, another containment zone has 1,689 patients testing positive. Teynampet has 1,155 active cases and Adyar has 1,1,46.
Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar has 1,213 and Royapuram, which had the highest positive patients now has 885 cases. Another hotspot, Tondirapet currently has 700 cases.
Royapuram, which has 70 per cent of its population affected, is showing an impressive recovery rate with 9,349 persons overcoming the viral infection.
Even the casualties related to Covid-19 have reduced. Teynampet has the highest death toll in the city with 297, followed by Royapuram with 246 deaths.
