Chennai: DMK president and Leader of Opposition in Tamilnadu Assembly MK Stalin has hit out at the AIADMK government in the State over discrepancies in morality figures related to the novel coronavirus.
He has also sought an apology from Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami for hiding deaths and cheating the people of Tamilnadu.
In a video statement, Stalin accused Palaniswami and Health Minister Dr C Vijayabaskar of suppressing the real figures related to Covid-19 fatalities for political gains.
Stalin urged the government to disclose the information related to deaths across the state with the date on which the deaths were reported to ensure transparency and credibility in the data released by the government.
Charging the Tamilnadu government with hiding Covid-19 death data from 1 March to 10 June, he alleged that the Health department officials were threatened to peg the death figures at a lower number.
