Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today launched the distribution of free face masks for ration card holders at fair price shops in the State.
To mark the launch of the scheme he handed over face masks to five persons at the Secretariat in Chennai.
In the first phase 69.90 lakh families in Panchayats, Municipalities and Corporations (except Greater Chennai Corporation) will receive two reusable masks for each person in ration card.
The scheme is inaugurated at a cost of Rs 30.7 crore in which 4.44 crore masks will be distributed.
