Chennai: Tamilnadu today posted its highest ever daily Covid-19 cases- 6,993. With this, the total number of coronavirus infections in the State has touched 2,20,716.
The capital city of Chennai today recorded 1,138 fresh cases of Covid-19, according to the daily bulletin released by the State Health department. With this, the total number of pandemic infections in the metropolis has touched 95,857.
The daily fatalities, which were above 80 for the past few days, saw a slight reduction today, as the State has announced 77 deaths of Covid-19 patients. In total, 3571 lives have been lost in Tamilnadu so far due to coronavirus.
On the positive side, as many as 5,723 patients were discharged from various hospitals in Tamilnadu today, after they recovered from coronavirus infection. With this, the number of cured patients increased to 1,62,249.
A total of 63,250 samples were tested in the last 24 hours taking the total number of samples tested till date to 24.14 lakh.
