Chennai: A day after Goondas Act was slapped against Surendran Natarajan, owner of Karuppar Kootam YouTube channel, the Act was invoked against another member of the team- Senthilvasan. It is said he had links with DMK’s IT wing.
Both are currently imprisoned for portraying Lord Muruga’s Kandha Sashti Kavasam in poor light.
The case is currently under investigation. The case was registered by Central Crime Branch (CCB) under Sections 153, 153(A)(1)(a), 295(P), 505 (1)(b) and 505(2) of IPC. A member of the channel, Senthil Vasan is also in police custody.
Surendran recently moved a bail petition in Egmore court. He alleged that his arrest was âpolitically motivatedâ.
Following the arrests, actor and politician Rajinikanth lauded the government for taking swift action and condemned the channel for the derogatory content.
The complaint against Karuppar Kootam channel was made by R C Paul Kanakaraj, advocate wingâs head of BJP state unit.
