Chennai: Congress spokesperson and actress Khushbu Sundar has refuted reports that she would quit the party and join the BJP. “I will continue in the Congress. I won’t join the Bharatiya Janata Party,” she said.
It was said Khushbu had upset her fellow Congress party leaders with her support to the recently announced Education Policy. The DMK and its alliance partners have predictably protested against it.
Tamilnadu Congress Committee president K S Alagiri remarked that while the Congress has inner party democracy, speaking outside the party setup can be considered lack of maturity.
Khushbu was also at the receiving end of criticism from her own party after coming out in support of Sanjay Jha.
She had tweeted: “Looks like I have ruffled a few feathers. I am a Congress person. I am in @INCIndia bcoz i believe in #Sonia ji n @RahulGandhi My intentions are very clear n I continue to be a Congressi worker at heart. So the mischief makers can rest now. Put a fullstop and close the chapter”.
