Chennai: The lockdown in Tamilnadu has been extended till 31 August with very little relaxations.
Apparently disappointed at no permission to shoot feature films, veteran filmmakers Bharathiraja and S A Chandrasekhar today called on Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami at his camp office here.
At ths meeting in which State Information and Publicity Minister Kadambur Raju was also present, it was requested to the Chief Minister to consider their request to allow shootings.
The Chief Minister was briefed on how the industry is affected because of the lockdown and no shootings.
Sources say Palaniswami gave a patient hearing and a final decision would be taken in next few days.
The film industry representatives also said that they would strictly follow safety rules during shooting. Remember, the shoot for TV serials is on as an official permission to shoot was given by the State government.
Sources in the industry say, “Over Rs1750 crore is at stake. Big movies could not shoot. Delay in completion increases budget. We are not sure when theatres will open. Already some movies are ready for release. Will audience come to theatres is another question? OTT is also hitting the industry”.
