Chennai: Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today said that the government will continue to give free rice at ration shops till November.
He made the announcement after laying the foundation stone for projects worth Rs 8.69 crore and distributed welfare schemes of 2.96 crore in Dindigul.
Speaking at the event, he said several measures are being taken to overcome the financial crisis in the State.
“As many as 210 countries are facing severe economic crisis due to the pandemic. People should adhere to the guideliness issued by the government. Treatment is given based on the advice of the World Health Organisation,” he said.
He further said that the number of people who have recovered is high in Tamilnadu. “As far as Dindigul is concerned, the rate of infection is reducing. So far 43,578 have been infected in the district,” he said.
It may be noted that Palaniswami embarked on a tour of southern districts yesterday. Palaniswami will visit southern districts of the State and review the coronavirus prevention measures today and tomorrow.
His visit will include Madurai, Dindugal and Tenkasi districts. Palaniswami will hold a review meeting with three District Collectors at the Tirunelveli Collector office on 7 August.
Sources said that the preventive measures taken to control the spread of Covid-19 and further course of action will be discussed during the meeting. He will also inauguarte welfare projects.
