Vijay Sethupathi will be playing the lead in cricketer Muttiah Muralitharan’s biopic.
Titled as 800, the film will be directed by MS Sripathy and Sam CS of Vikram Vedha fame will be composing the music.
A champion cricketer who represented Sri Lanka, Muralitharan was a prolific spinner who took over eight hundred Test wickets.
Muralitharan married Chennai girl Madhimalar, daughter of the later doctor Ramamurthy who founded the famous Malar Hospitals.
Malayalam actress Rajisha Vijayan of Anuraga Karikkin Vellam fame, who is acting with Dhanush in Karnan, has been signed for 800.
The rest of the cast and crew of the film are yet to be confirmed.
