Chennai: To curb the spread of Covid-19 and to enforce social distancing, the State police have arrested 9,43,745 persons who ventured out during curfew.
Nearly 8,56,315 violations have been recorded by the police in various districts of Tamilnadu and FIRs have been registered against them, a press release from DGP’s office said today.
The restrictions have been imposed across the State since 24 March. As many as 6,67,992 vehicles were seized from these persons.
However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner. A total amount of Rs 19,81,65,578 has been collected from violators as fines since March.
