Chennai: With multiple rumours doing rounds about admission process and reopening of government schools in Tamilnadu, State School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan today sought to put an end to them.

He said Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will make an announcement on admission process in government schools on 10 August.

With continued spike in Covid-19 cases and the reluctance of the parents to send in their wards to schools, many educational institutions in Tamilnadu, like their counterparts elsewhere, have been taking up online classes and allied digital interactions with their students.

On Thusday, even as rumours claimed that schools will be reopened soon, Sengottaiyan took to Twitter to say that there was no possibility of reopening schools in the current situation.

He said that Tamilnadu schools would be reopened as per public opinion once the Covid-19 infection cases reduced.

“In the present circumstances, there is no hope of reopening the schools. When Corona’s infection is reduced, then the schools will be opened after getting public opinion,” the Minister tweeted.
