Chennai: Several relaxations are being announced by the Tamilnadu government in this phase of the Covid-19 induced lockdown. The government today said that driving classes can start functioning from 10 August.
In a statement, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami announced that driving schools in the State shall function from 10 August adhering to the standard operating procedures to be released by the government.
He requested the public to adhere to standard operating procedures and contain the spread of Covid-19.
In the lockdown period, when vehicles have disappeared from roads, those who imparted driving lessons to thousands of people each year also had a hard time.
With driving schools remaining closed, the many who depend on these for their daily bread were looking at an uncertain future, as it was not clear when all the restrictions would be lifted.
Now that the government allowed driving schools to reopen, they are heaving a sigh of relief.
