Chennai: Tamilnadu Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami today condoled the death of 18 people in the air crash at Kozhikode last night.
In his message, he said he was saddened to hear about the news that the Air India flight from Dubai, operated under the Vande Bharath scheme with 191 passengers, crash landed, killing 18 people, including the pilots, besides leaving several injured.
He expressed deep anguish and grief ovr the deaths and also offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members. He also wished all the injured a speedy recovery.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Pained by the plane accident in Kozhikode. My thoughts are with those who lost their loved ones. May the injured recover at the earliest. Spoke to Kerala CM @vijayanpinarayi Ji regarding the situation. Authorities are at the spot, providing all assistance to the affected.”
There were 190 people, including 10 infants, and two pilots and four cabin crew, onboard the aircraft, the Civil Aviation Ministry said.
Many passengers suffered serious injuries, including to the head and fractures, due to the crash impact. Fortunately, the plane did not burst into flames.
