Chennai: Tamilnadu has inching towards 10 lakh violations during the lockdown. Nearly, 9,78,648 persons were arrested by the Tamilnadu police for venturing out despite a lockdown.
Since 24 March, in order to curb the spread of Covid-19 and to enforce social distancing, the State police have been arresting those who ventured out during curfew.
Nearly 8,85,270 violations have been recorded by the police in various districts and FIRs have been registered against them, a press release from DGP’s office said today.
As many as 6,86,664 vehicles were seized from these persons. However, the vehicles are being returned to their owners in a phased manner.
A total amount of Rs 20,91,11,473 has been collected from violators as fine.
