
Thoothukudi: Taking a serious view of a policeman’s murder in Thoothukudi district, Tamilnadu Director General of Police J K Tripathy has reportedly rushed to the southern town to monitor the investigation.
With the DGP himself personally monitoring the developments, investigation teams have intensified hunt for assailants.
The policeman was murdered in a country bomb attack near Murappanadu at Manakkarai village in the southern Tuticorin district on Tuesday afternoon. Special teams have been formed to nab the assailants.
Sources said the cop was identified as Subramaniam. He was trying to nab a criminal when he hurled a country bomb at him. He died on the spot.
His body was shifted to Tuticorin Government Hospital for post mortem. The incident has shock waves among police fraternity. Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami has announced Rs 50 lakh solatium to the family of Subramaniam.
