Chennai: Soon after it was reported in a section of the media that veteran playback singer SP Balasubrahmanyam was out of Covid quoting his son SP Charan, the latter came out with a statement denying the same.
Charan in a video message said, “I will be the first to officially inform all on my father’s health status. Don’t believe any rumours. His condition is stable. And the health bulletin is issued by hospital regularly”.
The singer was admitted to MGM Healthcare on 5 August with complaints of cold and chest congestion. SPB immediately posted a video for his fans informing them that he was fine and chest congestion was common for any singer.
Dr Anuradha Baskaran, assistant director-Medical Services of MGM Healthcare said that the veteran singer is stable and is being closely monitored by the multidisciplinary clinical team.
The hospital has also collaborated with international experts for the treatment of SPB. She said, “He continues to be on ventilator and ECMO support in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). His current clinical condition is stable and he continues to be closely monitored by our multidisciplinary clinical team.”
