Chennai: A Hindu saint has ended his life ‘out of humiliation and torture’ near Salem, after a group of policemen led by a Sub-Inspector Anthony Micheal allegedly humiliated the Hindu Sadhu.
The 42-year-old saint, who has been identified as Saravanan, was living at Kundangal Kaadu in Sankagiri taluk in Salem district. Saravanan used to perform special poojas at new moon days for his devotees. Several people visited his ashram situated in village Puliyampatti Kudalamkadu near Edappadi for divine healing and to get a holy pendant.
He also performs rituals to Lord Shiva in a nearby temple. In a video which was taken before he committed suicide, he said he was beaten up by police officer Anthony Michael and hence he couldn’t bear this humiliation.
“Sub-Inspector Anthony Michael beat me up thinking he can do anything with the power he got,” the sadhu alleged in the video.
Saravanan’s body was found inside the forest in a decayed condition. Netizens have trended #JusticeForSaravanan to bring this news to authorities so that proper action is taken against the alleged police officer.
