TN condoles Pranab’s death


Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami and leaders cutting across party lines condoled the death of former President Pranab Mukherjee.

The Governor said Mukherjee was an outstanding Parliamentarian, statesman-par-excellence and outstanding politician. He was respected by everyone across all sections of society and all political parties. A glorious era had come to an end, he added.

Palaniswami said Mukherjee as the country’s President had performed extremely well. Mukherjee as the Union Minister for Finance, Defence and Exernal Affairs and the Member of Parliament had performed in a great manner. The passing away of Mukherjee is a great loss for the nation, Palaniswami said.

DMK president M K Stalin said the former President had the talent to solve any kind of problem through a dialogue.

TNCC president K S Alagiri recalled that he worked for India’s progress by serving in various roles as Defence Minister, Finance Minister, Commerce Minister, External Affairs Minister, and so on.

The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali, in his condolence message said, “one of the towering personalities and elderly stalwart in the country, our respected former President of India, Pranab Mukherjee Saheb was highly respected and will be long remembered by many, who admired and regarded him for his noble services to the nation, till his last breath.”
