Chennai: Makkal Needhi Maiam (MNM) Puducherry unit president MAS Subramanian, who tested positive for Covid-19 recently, passed away this morning.
A three-time former Legislator, before joining MNM, he was in the AIADMK and DMK.
He served as DMK MLA from Urulianpet between 1985 and 1990. He was elected as DMK MLA in 2001 and 2006 from Mudhaliarpet.
He was appointed as MNM chief recently.
Expressing his condolence, MNM president Kamal Haasan said, ‘Subramanian rendered great work during his stints as MLA. His demise is s great loss to people of Puducherry, MNM party and its cadres’.
