Chennai: The Prince of Arcot, Nawab Mohammed Abdul Ali has appealed to Muslims to observe safety protocols in mosques while attending daily five-times and Friday congregational prayers, “as a spike in Covid-19 cases was likely in October, if strict discipline was not followed and people failed to wear face masks, maintain physical distancing in public places or observe personal hygiene”.
In a statement, he said the situation is alarming and people think that government restrictions are over and they are free to mix in crowded places, little realising that the pandemic is not over yet.
The Prince of Arcot expressed his concern and cautioned people against complacency at any level, and said that the next few months were critical due to the non-availability of a vaccine. It is our prime duty to protect ourselves and fellow beings from the spread of invisible virus, he added.
