Chennai: It has emerged that the active Covid-19 cases in Tamilnadu is the lowest at 9.4 per cent among high prevalence States in the country.
As per statistics, the active cases rate was the least after Bihar (9.2 per cent) and Andaman & Nicobar Islands (7.6 per cent). The recovery rate is high at 89.0 per cent, after Andaman & Nicobar Islands (90.0 per cent) and Bihar (90.3 per cent).
Tamilnadu has lower active cases rate compared to 20.6 per cent in the rest of the country India. It has higher recovery rate compared to 77.8 per cent in the country.
Tamilnadu on Monday registered 5,752 new Covid-19 cases, taking the total number of persons tested positive for coronavirus infection in the State so far to 5,08,511.
According to the daily bulletin released by the State Health department, the capital city of Chennai registered 991 cases in the last 24 hours. With this, the total number of persons affected by the pandemic in the metropolis has reached 1,49,583.
As far as Chennai’s neighbouring districts are concerned, Chengalpattu registered 364 new cases, Kancheepuram saw 167 infections in the last 24 hours, and Thiruvallur posted 294 positive cases.
