Chennai: Tamilnadu has become the first State in India to come out Safe and Ethical Artificial Intelligence (AI), Blockchain and Cybersecurity policies.
The policies were unveiled by Chief Minister Edapaddi K Palaniswami during the valedictory session of the 19th edition of Connect 2020.
Speaking on the occasion, he said that Tamilnadu continues to be a ‘Destination of Choice’ for the IT and IT-enabled services sector in India.
He added that the State would soon be rolling out Knowledge Proof Identity Based Services Delivery Project, which will revolutionise the way government services are offered to citizens.
According to the policy note, the platform ‘Nambikkai Inaiyam’ (Blockchain Backbone) would help establish a single trusted source that would be used to create an efficient and manipulation resilient system for government services.
“The initiative will directly benefit the public of Tamilnadu,” it said and added: “The Nambikai Inaiyam is the state’s blockchain backbone. It will be a state-of-the-art blockchain platform that will allow government departments, public, start-ups, private sector to connect, transact, build secure applications and design efficient workflows upon it.”
