Chennai: Tamilnadu School Education Minister K A Sengottaiyan has said Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami will hold discussions with the School Education Department, Health and Family Welfare Department and the Revenue Department and make an announcement on the reopening of schools.
“The Chief Minister will hold a discussion before October 1 during which the impact of Covid-19 will be discussed and a decision on reopening of schools will be taken,” he told journalists.
He said that a government order on Thursday, allowing students of classes 10 to 12 to visit schools and get their doubts cleared, was issued by the Revenue and Disaster Management Department.
On Thursday, the State government said classes 10, 11, and 12 students can visit schools on a voluntary basis for taking guidance from teachers from 1 October.
The government had also issued a set of Standard Operating Procedures, SOPs for the students who would be attending the schools on a voluntary basis from next month.
Students who want to take help or guidance from their teachers will have to bring written consent from their parents or guardians. Schools will allow these students to enter the premises after getting consent. However, the students of the containment zones are not allowed to visit the schools anyhow. The online or distance learning classes shall be continued for all students.
