Chennai: In the last two days, the active cases of Covid-19 displayed a surge in Chennai.
Currently with seven per cent active cases, 10,656 persons have the viral infection. A total of 3,166 persons have lost their lives since March.
Since the pandemic began, the city has recorded 1,63,423 cases of Covid-19, of which 1,49,601 have recovered. Chennai is showing 92 per cent recovery rate.
As per data, 413 persons have died in Teynampet and 356 lives were lost in Anna Nagar.
On 27 September, 12,789 tests were carried out by the City Corporationās health department.
The Greater Chennai Corporation gave an area-wise break-up of the places which have high numbers of Covid-19.
According to the data, in Kodambakkam there are 1,206 active cases, 1,190 persons in Anna Nagar have coronavirus and 1,003 cases have been recorded in Teynampet.
Other places with high Covid-19 numbers are, Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar with 868 patients, Adyar with 942 cases, Royapuram with 801 and in Valsaravakkam nearly 817 have the viral infection.
The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 60.53 per cent of the patients are male and 39.47 per cent are female.
Around 18.92 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 50-59 years.
In Kodambakkam, 16,821 persons were treated and cured of Coronavirus.
