TN Governor, CM, OPS, Stalin condole Jaswant Singh’s death


Chennai: Tamilnadu Governor Banwarilal Purohit, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam, Opposition DMK president M K Stalin and leaders of various political parties condoled the death of former Union Minister Jaswant Singh today.

In his message, Purohit said, “I am saddened to know about the demise of Mr Jaswant Singh, former Cabinet Minister. He had handled the Finance, External Affairs and Defence Ministry portfolios with full dedication and left his strong mark.”

The Governor said Jaswant Singh was a retired officer of the Indian Army. An experienced political leader known for his simplicity, humbleness, governance skills and cordial relations he will be missed by the country, he said, according to a Raj Bhavan communique.

Describing Jaswant as an an asset to the people of India, he said he was appreciated as an outstanding Parliamentarian across the political parties.

His contribution in the Nation building and to the needy people will be remembered forever, Purohit said, adding, his demise was an irreparable loss to the people of India.

“I convey my deep condolences to the bereaved members of the family and pray to the Almighty God to rest his soul in peace and give strength to his family to overcome this unfathomable loss”, he said.

Palaniswami, in a tweet, said “very sad to hear the death of former Union Minister Jaswant Singh Ji. He was a Valiant soldier able administrator. We fondly recollect his association with our beloved Amma. May his soul rest in peace. Heartfelt Condolences. #RIPJASWANTSINGH”.

Panneerselvam, in his condolence posted in his twitter, expressed shock and grief over the death of the senior BJP leader and said Mr Jaswant Singh had served as a MP for over 30 years and had handled various portfolios in the Union Cabinet, including Finance, Defence and External Affairs.

He also offered his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members and pray the Almighty for his soul to rest in peace.

Stalin, in a tweet, said he was deeply saddened to hear about the passing of former Union Minister and veteran politician Jaswant Singh.

“On behalf of DMK, I express my sincere condolences. My thoughts are with his family and friends at this difficult time”, he added.

Leaders of various political parties, including PMK founder Dr S Ramadoss, MDMK general secretary and Rajya Sabha MP Vaiko, also condoled the death of Jaswant Singh.
