Chennai: A case has reportedly been filed against DMK president and Leader of Opposition M K Stalin for conducting Grama Sabha meet even after the State government cancelling it.
The State government on Thursday decided to call off the grama sabha meetings scheduled for Friday (Gandhi Jayanti) across the State. In several districts, the public relations officers announced the cancellation “in view of the Covid-19 pandemic”.
However, Stalin conducted one in Thiruvallur district. Sources said that the meeting took place in Korattur in which about 100 women participated.
“It is the fear of the DMK getting closer to the people and highlighting the ill-effects of the farms acts, which were blindly supported by the AIADMK, to the villagers that provoked the State to issue a late night order to cancel all grama sabha meetings that were scheduled to take place on Friday,” Stalin said.
Stalin said the government cancelled the meetings, fearing that the grama sabhas would pass resolutions against the recent laws.
