Bengaluru: The CBI today conducted raids in connection with an alleged corruption case against Karnataka Congress chief D K Shivakumar in Karnataka, Mumbai and Delhi.
Today’s raids – carried out at 14 locations – have been called by the Congress as an ‘attempt to derail our preparation for bypolls’ in Karnataka.
Reports said that CBI raided 14 premises of Shivakumar and his brother and MP DK Suresh, including the former’s residence at Doddalahalli, Kanakapura and Sadashiva Nagar, in Bengaluru.
The CBI has recovered a total of Rs 50 lakh after the raids, reports added. It may be noted that the CBI has registered a case against Shivakumar and others on allegations of acquisition of disproportionate assets. Searches were also conducted at multiple locations — nine in Karnataka, four in Delhi and one in Mumbai.
The Congress Karnataka unit accused the Bharatiya Janata Party of using the Central Bureau of Investigation as an electoral weapon following the agencyās raids at multiple locations linked to Shivakumar and Suresh.
“The CBI attack is the BJPās permanent electoral process. BJPās fear of losing the by-election. We condemn the CBI attack on hate politics,” KPCC tweeted.
