Chennai: Chief Minister and AIADMK joint coordinator Edappadi K Palaniswami’s mother Thavusayammal passed away at a private hospital in Salem during the wee hours of today.
The 93-year-old was unwell for the past some days and she breathed her last early today, sources said.
Following this, the Chief Minister, who was set to visit Thoothukudi district today to attend a government event, left Chennai for Siluvampalayam in Salem district. His event has been cancelled.
Several political leaders have condoled the demise of Thavusayammal.
