Chennai: In a major operation, Railway Protection Force (RPF) Personnel have busted a racket which book online tickets through IRCTC using illegal software in Vellore district of Tamilnadu with the arrest of two members from a travel agency and seized live and expired tatkal e-tickets.
Sources said that acting on information, the RPF personnel raided the travel agency and seized live tatkal e-tickets valued at Rs.7,034 and expired tickets, valued at Rs.1,68,930, totalling Rs 1,75,964 besides computer monitor, CPU, printer, etc and other accessories.
Two persons, who were present in the travel centre were arrested, the sources added.
During inquiry, the arrested persons revelaed that they were operating as sub-agents on behalf of the owner of the travels, who was in West Bengal and booked the seized IRCTC e-tickets by using multiple user IDs in violation of the IRCTC rules.
They further admitted that the tickets were booked using illegal software (illegal software was used to autofill required columns in the website of IRCTC for booking Tatkal e-tickets).
The cell phone of the accused was also loaded with Apps for such illegal operations. Efforts were on to nab the travel agency owner.
Recently a tout gang using illegal software ‘Real Mango’ was busted by RPF in Kolkata. A case has been registered against the travel owner and investigations are on.
