Chennai: The Centre on Wednesday announced the extension of services of Tamilnadu Chief Secretary K Shanmugam for a further period of three months till 31 January next year.
A communique received from the Centre said in reference to the State government’s letter dated 13 August, 2020, on extension in service of Mr Shanmugam, the Centre convey the approval of the Central government for extending his services from 1 November, 2020 to 31 January, 2021.
The copies of the letter was marked to the Director PMO, PS to Tamilnadu Chief Minister and the Resident Commissioner, Tamilnadu Bhawan New Delhi.
The 1985-batch IAS officer assumed charge as the Chief Secretary on 30 June, 2019 and was to retire in July this year earlier. However, on a request from the Tamilnadu government, the Centre extended his services by three months till 31 October, which were now further extended till 31 January, 2021.
