Chennai: After a gap, the cases of Coronavirus in the city are now once again showing a marginal dip. The fatality rate has also come down.
The tally of positive cases this morning in the city is 13,488 which is seven per cent. Since March, Chennai has recorded 1,85,573 cases of Covid-19, of which 1,68,633 have recovered since the pandemic began in March. Chennai is showing 91 per cent recovery rate.
Nearly, 3,452 persons have died due to the viral infection. As per data, 434 persons have died in Teynampet, 389 casualties were reported in Anna Nagar and 376 lives were claimed in Kodambakkam.
On 15 October, 13,548 tests were carried out by the city Corporationâs health department. The Greater Chennai Corporation gave an area-wise break-up of the places which have high numbers of Covid-19.
According to the data, there are 1,365 cases in Anna Nagar, 1,178 positive cases in Teynampet, 1,123 cases in Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar and 1,214 cases in Kodambakkam.
As many as 1,031 persons tested positive in Adyar and 909 persons in Ambattur have the infection.
The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 61.64 per cent of the patients are male and 38.36 per cent are female. Around 18.74 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 50-59 years.
