Helming a film based on the Nungambakkam murder incident, has turned out to be quite an ordeal for filmmaker SD Ramesh Selvan. He was caught in a legal battle and after all troubles finally releases Nungambakkam on 24 October.
The movie would see a digital release in Cineflix OTT and can be watched pay per view by paying Rs 49.
Addressing media persons, Ramesh Selvan, said, ‘It’s shocjing that the victim was hacked to death on a busy morning at the railway station and lay unattended for well over three hours. The film acknowledges the heroic efforts of the cop entrusted with finding the murderer (played by Ajmal). The story is in fact narrated from the perspective of this investigating officer.
We gathered the facts from the near and dear ones of both the victim and the accused, as well as from the police officials who investigated the proceedings, he added.
He urged the people not to watch the movie in piracy. ‘I will be compelled to end life id the movie is out in piracy, he added.
On his part, Ajmal said, ‘ We worked hard for the movie. I know people will support. Startling truths are revealed in the film.’
Lyricist Snehan and actor RNR Manohar also spoke.
