Chennai: Chennai has been seeing a dip in coronavirus cases. Yesterday six areas had high numbers of Covid-19 and this morning it is reported that there are four areas with more than 1,000 infections.
The tally of positive cases this morning in the city is 13,289 which is seven per cent. Since March, Chennai has recorded 1,87,852 cases of Covid-19, of which 1,71,075 have recovered since the pandemic began in March. Chennai is showing 91 per cent recovery rate. Nearly, 3,488 persons have died due to the viral infection.
As per data, 442 persons have died in Teynampet, 393 casualties were reported in Anna Nagar and 384 lives were claimed in Kodambakkam.
On 16 October, 13,365 tests were carried out by the city Corporation’s Health department, an effective way to curtail spread.
The Chennai Corporation gave an area-wise break-up of the places which have high numbers of Covid-19.
According to the data, there are 1,290 cases in Anna Nagar, 1,058 positive cases in Teynampet, 1,037 cases in Thiru-Vi-Ka Nagar , 1,137 cases in Kodambakkam and 994 persons tested positive in Adyar.
The pandemic has affected more men than women. As per data, 61.44 per cent of the patients are male and 38.56 per cent are female.
Around 18.89 per cent of those contracting the virus is from the age group of 30-39 years.
